Wired Fitness' Exercise and Nutrition Tips
Nutrition and Supplementation
KEEP ON TOP OF YOUR GAME! When we are exercising, our bodies may require more nutritional support. A multivitamin is good to help keep up our nutritional levels. Antioxidants are great to help stop cellular damage and an antioxidant pack is a great choice, because it contains the four most important antioxidants: Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Selenium and Beta Carotene. The B vitamins are also important for energy production and energy metabolism during exercise.
You can prevent a lot of muscle aches and pains by staying in shape and training on a consistent basis, rather than sporadically or not at all. Staying well hydrated will help your muscles to perform properly, as well as proper protein and carbohydrate intake to repair and replenish muscles after exercise. Stretching and massage therapy helps muscles too. Work out at your own level, and ease into exercise, rather than trying to do too much too soon.
Exercise and Training
Seperate Cardio and Weight Workouts! You have to do cardio and weights to cut fat and build muscle. However, many studies show that you compromise gains in the weight room if you do too much aerobic exercise. If your time is limited, what's the best way to combine weight work with exercise on the treadmill, bike, or eliptical trainer? Sports scientists Mike Leveritt and Peter Abernethy found that strength performance was less when preceded by an aerobic workout. Do your aerobics after you lift weights. Or, rest at least 30-60 minutes after cardio before hitting the weights (eFit, July 18, 2002)
